I thoroughly recommend you watch this programme - entitled "THE MIND READER - UNLOCKING MY VOICE" about a group of severely brain injured people who cannot communicate and are diagnosed through traditional methods as being in a persistant vegetative state. New uses of a brain scan aim to 'read their minds' by interpreting responses to questions in an MRI scan.
It's something which fits into the 'the day that changed my life' brief in this year's Doc Commission unit. It is a fascinating if difficult watch - Panorama in a more documentary approach.
